Jini started by highlighting one powerful word: invest. “We’re not saying waste,” she said. “Investing in yourself shows the young people around you that growth never stops.” Thornton encouraged women to budget for personal development, such as going back to school, taking classes, or attending retreats and conferences. She emphasized that prioritizing yourself isn’t selfish—it’s setting an inspiring example.

For moms considering the leap to becoming full-time stay-at-home parents, Jini had some firm advice: plan smart. “Don’t just jump,” she cautioned. “Do the math. Look at your budget. Ask what changes your family can make to make it possible.” She reflected on her own experience, wishing she had considered the option more seriously when her children were young.

Mr. Griff, co-host of the show, gave a shoutout to single moms, and Jini shared a personal story in response. “I was raised by a phenomenal single mother,” she said. “She included me and my brother in the family finances—we knew how much things cost. That transparency helped shape how we handled money later in life.” Her advice for single mothers? Let your kids in on the financial realities of running a household. “It’s not about negativity, it’s about awareness.”

On the topic of working moms, Jini pushed for more workplace flexibility. She made a strong case that when moms are supported, they perform better at work. “Let them attend the games and recitals. Trust that they’re not going to abuse the flexibility—they just want to feel like they can be present for their families and still contribute at work.”
