Evvie McKinney Opens Up About Faith, Motherhood, and Her New Single “Believe in Jesus”

During a recent interview on Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell, gospel singer Evvie McKinney joined Cheryl Jackson to talk about her powerful new single, “Believe in Jesus,” featuring fellow artist DOE. The song, which Evvie says she wrote a while ago, continues to give her chills every time she hears it—and she’s praying it does the same for others.

“This is the anthem for 2025,” she said. “It’s for anybody who’s ever felt counted out by church or even their own family. I just want this song to bring people back to Jesus.”
The collaboration with DOE came from a real friendship. The two first met in 2022 when they shared a dressing room and later performed together at a Hope for Harvest event. Since then, they’ve bonded over motherhood and life in the industry.
“She’s my big sister in Christ,” Evvie said. “We talk about everything—even how to keep our breast milk supply up!” When the time came to finish the song, DOE didn’t hesitate. “She recorded her verse with her baby in the studio. That’s my kind of praise,” Evvie added with a laugh.

Known for being open about her faith on social media, Evvie didn’t hold back when talking about the message she hopes listeners take from the track. “Just keep believing. It’s gonna get hard, but God is faithful,” she said. “Hebrews 11:6 has carried me—it reminds me that without faith, we can’t please God.”
The song reflects a difficult season Evvie recently came out of. “I could’ve given up,” she admitted. “But I didn’t. And I want people to feel God’s presence in this music, no matter what their circumstances look like.”
Looking ahead, Evvie is preparing to release her new EP titled It Ain’t Over, later this year. She describes it as a six-song project filled with meaningful collaborations and a message of perseverance. “I hope it connects with young people, older people—everybody. I’m just excited about what’s next.”
Beyond music, she also runs a Christian beauty brand called Blessed and Beautiful, which offers luxury lashes and glosses named after biblical themes. “It’s for my Christian girlies,” she said proudly. “Everything about it is rooted in faith.”
Evvie wrapped up the conversation full of joy and optimism, declaring, “I’m claiming a tour in Jesus’ name!”
