Multi-award-winning gospel artist and worship leader Byron Cage recently joined Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell to discuss his latest single, It’s Whatever You Say, a collaboration with fellow gospel artist Todd Dulaney. The song, which Cage co-wrote with Dulaney and Donio Kimbro, is a powerful declaration of obedience to God, inspired by Jesus’ words in the garden of Gethsemane. “We are in a season of obedience, saints,” Cage emphasized, explaining that the song reflects a commitment to trusting God’s will despite life’s challenges.

Cage and Dulaney share a deep passion for worship, and their musical backgrounds made for a natural collaboration. “The combination of the word and worship is just undeniable when you hear it,” Cage said. “The anointing destroys the yokes, God’s name is glorified, people are edified, and the devil is horrified.” He also reflected on his career, highlighting some of his most memorable collaborations, including projects with gospel greats such as Marvin Winans, Karen Clark Sheard, Fred Hammond, and Kim Burrell. When asked about his favorite collaboration, he humorously pointed out that he has yet to record with Erica Campbell and hinted at a possible future project.

Beyond his collaborations, Cage shared a deeply personal story about the impact of his music. He recalled a fan who told him that her mother’s final request before passing was to hear his song I’m Healed one last time. “I can’t buy that kind of stuff. I can’t take credit for that. That is all God,” Cage said, emphasizing the spiritual power of music and its ability to bring comfort and healing.
As he continues his musical journey, Cage is preparing for a special live recording on April 11 in Washington, D.C., at NYS Church in Fort Washington, Maryland. The event will celebrate his 30-year career in ministry and gospel music. He remains active on social media, encouraging fans to stay connected with him on platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. While he hasn’t joined TikTok yet, he joked that he’s still figuring it out.
Cage’s new single, It’s Whatever You Say, is set to release on February 21. Fans can support the song by streaming and downloading it, ensuring that his message of faith and obedience reaches as many hearts as possible.
