The single, which he describes as “a sermon with a melody,” is all about faith and triumph. “So many people are telling you what you can’t do, what you’re not, and what you won’t be able to accomplish,” Pastor Mike said. “God gave me a song full of positive confessions: This gonna be my year. I’m coming out. I’m blessed. Amen.” The inspiration struck him unexpectedly. “I was in church, and it just hit me: Amen. Amen. I was in the parking lot of West Angeles on tour, humming it, saying, ‘This gonna be the year that I break every cycle.’”

On the same Sunday his new single was released, Pastor Mike experienced a health scare that sent him to the hospital. “I woke up excited, and the next thing I know, I hit the ground,” he shared. Doctors initially feared blood clots or heart issues but later discovered it was a nerve issue in his back. Reflecting on the moment, he said, “The Holy Spirit said to me, sometimes God allows you to experience everything you ever wanted, but He always has a way of making sure you don’t forget about Him. Sometimes, God makes you live out a song.”

Despite the setback, Pastor Mike’s gratitude remains strong. “In the song, I say, ‘When I’m up. Amen. When I’m down. Amen.’ I just didn’t think I’d be saying ‘Amen’ that soon.” He’s now undergoing rehab and focusing on recovery.
As an independent artist running his own label, Pastor Mike is embracing new opportunities to grow. “I’m in a really good place,” he said. “I made God and people a promise: If I stay humble, God will make me the platform.” He also highlighted the importance of creativity in today’s music industry, referencing a viral moment where he delivered an encouraging message via a neighbor’s Ring camera. “If you’re not going to be a content creator, you might as well not be an artist right now.”
Looking ahead, Pastor Mike is ready to embrace all that God has for him. “I’m excited to fully step into what He’s called me to be,” he said. With “Amen” resonating across the country, Pastor Mike Jr. is solidifying his place as a leader in gospel music.
