Erica Campbell kicked off the interview by playing Dillard’s latest single, “Win,” which he introduced as the “choir anthem of the year.” When asked about the inspiration behind the track, Dillard described the powerful moment when it was recorded. “The night we recorded it, it was an impactful move of God,” he shared. “This song reflects all that many of us have been through—the victories, the struggles, and the testimonies.” He emphasized how the song resonates deeply with listeners, connecting to both shared and personal experiences. “When I look back over my life and I think things over, I can truly say I’ve been blessed. I got a testimony,” Dillard said, describing the song as a witness to God’s faithfulness.

Dillard’s full album, Choir Master 2: A Praise in the Wilderness, captures the trials and triumphs of navigating today’s world. “The title came from what we’ve been facing,” he explained, drawing parallels to biblical stories like Moses and the children of Israel. “We may be in the wilderness, but God will provide and get us through. Victory is coming again.” Erica praised the album’s prophetic message, to which Dillard responded with a message of hope and resilience: “If He defeated our enemies before, He’s going to do it again.”

With the Grammys approaching, Dillard’s nomination adds another accolade to his illustrious career. “I’m thankful to be acknowledged by the academy,” he said. “Even if they don’t call my name, I’m just glad to be in the room with such amazing artists.” Known for his impeccable style, Dillard joked, “They’ve never seen someone lose and look this good doing it!”
