Good people, let’s talk about raising our children in faith. Recently, I had the honor of speaking at my church, reflecting on how we are created in God’s image. When it comes to parenting, especially as mothers, our ultimate goal should be to raise godly children—not just kids who work hard, know how to protect themselves, or make good choices, but children who know how to make God choices.

This journey of raising godly children starts with the Word of God. It’s about teaching them the power and truth found in scripture. What I love about God is how He gives us personal testimonies to reinforce our faith. There’s always a story behind the lesson, and as parents, we shouldn’t shy away from sharing our experiences with our kids. When we tell them not to make certain choices, it’s powerful to say, “I’ve been there. I made this mistake, and God redeemed me, but you don’t have to go through that because I already did.”

Sometimes God saves us out of situations, and sometimes He saves us from them altogether. Parenting today comes with so many challenges, but I firmly believe that God equips us for the task. He guides us, shows us when to pray and what to pray. I can’t count the number of times the Holy Spirit has nudged me to wake up, go into my kids’ rooms, and anoint them with oil, covering them in prayer because God knew they needed protection for the day ahead.

Parenting is a faith journey. As scripture says, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” It might not always make sense, but it makes faith. That’s when it’s time to believe and put that belief into action. Mark 9:23 reminds us, “All things are possible to them that believe.” And Philippians 4:13 assures us, “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.”

No matter their age, we still have a role in our children’s lives. My mom still calls and gives me advice, and I treasure every bit of it. As parents, we’re called to equip the next generation to be prepared for the challenges they’ll face. It’s a hefty responsibility, but with God’s guidance, we can do it.

To all the parents out there, I’m praying for us. The world needs a generation of godly, equipped, and faithful young people, and it starts with us. Let’s walk in faith, not fear, and trust God to guide us as we guide them.
