The holidays are all about relishing in the company of loved ones and creating lasting memories. One of the best ways to do so is with activities that everyone can enjoy. Help your loved ones bond by putting a holiday twist on game night. Whether you’re gathered around the Christmas tree, celebrating Hanukkah, or just spending time together over the New Year, here are three family-friendly games that will keep everyone entertained throughout the holiday season.

1. Charades – Holiday Edition

Charades is a classic party game that can easily be adapted for the holidays. The objective of the game is simple: players take turns acting out a word or phrase without speaking, while the rest of the group tries to guess what it is. For the holiday version, you can tailor the words to festive themes like ice skating, building igloos, or other winter traditions.

Directions:

  • Divide the group into two teams.
  • Write down holiday-themed phrases or words on slips of paper (e.g., “building a snowman,” “Santa Claus,” “decorating the tree,” or “singing carols”).
  • Place the slips of paper in a bowl.
  • One player from each team draws a slip and acts out the word or phrase without using any words or sounds.
  • Set a timer for 60 seconds for each round. If the team guesses correctly before the timer runs out, they earn a point.
  • Continue until all phrases are used, and the team with the most points wins!

2. Holiday Bingo

Bingo is an easy-to-learn game enjoyed by people of all ages. For the holidays, you can create a customized holiday-themed bingo card with pictures or words related to the season. This is a game that is ideal for a group of people, and it can be played at a leisurely pace, making it great for after a big holiday meal.

Directions:

  • Prepare bingo cards with holiday-themed items. You can include things like “Christmas Tree,” “Snowflake,” “Reindeer,” “Gift,” “Snowman,” and more.
  • Gather small markers or coins to cover the squares on the bingo card. Alternatively, you can use candy pieces for a sweet treat while playing.
  • The caller draws a card or calls out a holiday item, and players mark the corresponding square on their bingo card.
  • The first player to complete a row—vertically, horizontally, or diagonally—yells “Bingo!” and wins the round.

You can keep playing additional rounds with different bingo patterns (e.g., four corners, full card).

3. Pin the Nose on the Snowman

A holiday twist on the classic “Pin the Tail on the Donkey,” this game is especially great for younger kids. Players take turns being blindfolded and attempting to pin a paper carrot (or other nose) onto a poster of a snowman.

Directions:

  • Create or purchase a large poster of a snowman without a nose.
  • Cut out a nose (you can use a carrot shape or any festive decoration).
  • Blindfold one player at a time and give them the nose.
  • Spin the player gently and then let them try to place the nose on the snowman’s face.
  • The player who gets the nose closest to the correct spot wins the round.
  • Continue until everyone has had a turn.
